Horrifying-Chicken in Engine

Wow so sorry.Poor bird but not your fault. They can seek refuge in odd place's.I see a couple of replie's here too about the cat's in Engine.Luckily one of our squater kittie's survived a few year's ago.He did lose a alittle fur on butt from fan but he made it.The dummy still found refuge sometime's on DH's tire but would hop off. Those 2 cat's became like my long time one's after a while and they knew they had good sleeping in many of the building's and we finaly got the last to sleep at least basement in 09 winter.I had a friend that pulled a dead squirrel once from engine after week too. DH had gotten after the cat incident bang on hood a good while before starting truck up.So far have never had a bird in engine just turkey's roosting on them.

Thanks everyone for all the warm replies

When she disappeared I found a trail of feathers up the drive and imagined that she had run up to the road. I spent 2 days looking for her (kind of silly because it's so hot here there's no way she could have survived without water). At least I wont be searching for her every time I drive home anymore :-( She was a Production Red, which are the stupidest chicken's I've ever owned (couldn't ever figure out where the gate was in the chicken tractor), but sweet, and missed.

I'm sorry, this happened with our pregnant cat, and it didn't kill her was the saddest part. I know nothing makes you feel better, but there really isn't any way you could tell

We are really good at blaming ourselves for things out of our control aren't we? The only thing that would have changed the outcome was the dogs not attacking in the first place, she wouldn't have been in that position. I'm sorry this happened to you, and I hope you can feel better soon.

When I was in grade school, we went to my relatives that lived about 10 miles away. When we got there, we were standing in the driveway talking and a chicken jumped out from the engine of the truck and ran into the cow yard. Quess a 10 mile ride in the engine was enough for her. After a couple weeks, we took them a rooster so she would raise chicks.

at my house we have cats that do that - we've gotten into the habit of pounding the hood and honkin the heck out of that horn... and they still crawl up there

Sorry to hear of your loss -

We did it with our cat once. We actually drove about 3 miles on an errand and then went a further 10 miles to friends for dinner. I heard a faint yam and thought OMG its our Teddy. Of course hubby thought I was mad but I convinced him to look. It was our poor wee cat he had hung on to the engine for miles and all his little paws were raw and his nails pulled out. We were lucky and so was he. Unfortunately our friends were not so lucky as I wrapped Teds in a car blanket and took him into their house with me. He jumped out of my arms in fear and dashed through a hole in their kitchen unit. Well 3 days later - um err he didn;t come out so their Kitchen got dismantled! Teds is now 5 yrs older and a little wiser I think????? - Oh yeah still check the hood !!!! Those folks - funny haven;t seen them for about 5yrs come to think of it????????? ooops!

I am sorry about your Chicken. - ( Though hubby with his black sence of humour asked if she was cooked?????? !!!!!!!!
