Horse stepped on my foot....

Not a bad idea to get it checked at the doctor's office. Keep it elevated and ice it. I had a stress fracture in my calcaneous (the heel bone) from running and wore a walking boot for a few weeks and not allowed to run for several. Very painful but it healed.

BTW - there are not over 200 bones in the foot - there are only 206 bones in our total body! There are alot of bones in the foot and hand along with tendons and ligaments.

26 bones in the human foot. Wow horses have just about the same amount of bones in their body at 205...

isnt the internet great....

Neighbors horse stepped on my right foot when I was younger, and did not realize that it broke my big toe. Today its crooked to the right noticably. I had no idea that it was broke since it was just sore and it happened so quickly. Hope you are ok.

I've broke 7 fingers, stuck a nail through my foot, broke 6 toes, dislocated my shoulder 3 times, and broke a rib. Surprisingly I'm still limping along.

Last time my girl stepped on my foot I was wearing shoes about a size too big.... Thank goodness because she weighs two thousand pounds she only stood on my empty toe. I couldnt get far enough away from her to hit her for any effect. Every time I hit and said "GET OFF" shed wiggle her nose as if to say... oh scratch there again Mom.

If you can get some Arnica salve on it and give it some ice and it feels better after that I would worry too much. If it doesnt start feeling better at rest Id go see a doc. There are over two hundred bones in a foot any one could be damaged its up to a doctor to determine the extent.

2000 lbs???? Good grief what is it, a Clydesdale on steroids????

Personally, I can say I am not a fan of body parts being stepped on by horses....... and prefer to keep a fence between me and them anymore....... (long story, but it is less fun when they throw you and push off on your chest making breathing sound like broken glass crunching)

But, I have been dealing with a foot issue for months now, it is NO fun and as of yet I have found no insole, gel pad or shoe that is helping

I do stretch the foot, elevate, soak in epson salts, advil, and rotate shoes for a few better days.

I have read a lot of people like the Dansko shoes if you are having an arch support issue.....but have not bought any yet (no $$$)

LOL... Seventeen hands one inch and every bit the size of a small Clyde. In a hitch of six drafts put to one of those big wagons the two horses next to the wagon will be the biggest. They are usually between 18 and 19 hands and 2200 to 2500 lbs Each. But shes a different breed, Percheron. I have to stand on tip toe to see her back. And on some steps to groom her completely. Her foot is the size of a small dinner plate about eight inches across. If she had the same shoes that the Clydesdales have they would be arout ten or twelve inches across.

I have a picture of her in my Avatar. Her head goes from the top of my head down to my waist...

I crushed a vertibre when I was about twelve (horse related) didnt find it till I was 25 when my back went out. I have been bit kicked and dragged. Had my face stepped in have had horses fall with me but never had a broken bone that I knew about. My first year riding I was thrown over a hundred times. By the end of that year there was only one horse that could get me of and he was an ex rodeo bronk. Same horse sunfished me off twice in one ride.

43 years later I walk with a cane my knees are shot my neck looks like a stack of poker chips that landed badly and I still have a horse. I drive a little and putter a lot. Wouldnt trade any of it ever.

We used to have a horse that would try to step on the foot of whoever was saddling her. When we first got her she got my DW to the point where she went to the emergency room for x-rays. Fortunately nothing was broken--the ground was muddy which may have prevented damage--but, although that was 35 yrs or so ago, it still bothers her. We learned to give the horse room or stand on the opposite side of the fence when we were putting the saddle on. The trouble was, she wouldn't do it all the time, she'd kind of lure you into thinking she was ok with the process and then side step toward you--it took being alert and moving your feet fast.
