Horse Talk

Aw she's pretty, hope you find the horse you're looking for for shooting.
And I would get on etsy and find someone who makes rope halters and let's you send them measurements of your horses head, that way you get just the right size and don't have to worry about messing up. Plus etsy is a safe website to order off of and reasonably priced in my experience.

And I have a question for everyone too. I'm considering getting a third horse, but can't decide if I should or not. I'd like to get an older confidence builder, here's my pros and cons.

Pros:
- practice my riding on a horse that's not green
- build confidence
- 3rd horse could possibly help with June and Penelope's buddy sourness
- could pony June and Penelope, which I believe would help with their training
- could start going on rides with my grandpa immediately
- would be able to let my sister and little cousins go on real rides

Cons:
- I'll have to try and talk my grandpa into it

So, should I go for it or not?
(I could probably think of more pros if I tried lol)

Seen quite a few Facebook posts I liked for horses.
One is a 11 year old dapple grey QH mare. Built big and solid, they might trade for one of our other horses.

Dapple greys are so pretty! That's what my BLM mustang was.
I've seen some nice ads for horses around here too. I saved some to maybe show my grandpa. I've seen some ridiculous ads too. There was one that said "green broke horse, she's had a saddle on but never been ridden." I was like ?? What? And then of course there was a blue roan 2 year old with average papers who had never been messed with that someone wanted $3,000 for, people always think they can jack up the prices on blue roans. And there was one that was a "well broke 2 year old who necks reins and rides awesome, we've been riding her for months" that one made me kind of mad

I hate those adds!
If anything the dappled grey is underpriced! She's for $1000 right now!
400

I also just found a paint that I may be interested in.

Oh the pictures of the grey just showed up, she's beautiful! I probably wouldn't be able to resist

The person with the black was kind of rude tbh.
They don't make sense since the horse their selling is a calmer, but fast gelding..

I asked them what kind of horse they were looking for in trade, they said kids horse, so I asked them their definition of a kids horse and what it should be able to do.

They replied with.
No buck or rear, no bite, calm. And slower paced.

That doesn't tell me much...

So I said I have a Bay QH mare who is a slower pace, will go faster if you lunge her before, she has only bucked when working cattle. She has never bucked other then those 3 times, and I'm assuming it was due to the adrenaline and everything going on around her, and me and my horse being quite a ways off. She is Buddy/Barn sour.

They replied back with,
We cannot have a horse that bucks, and my 14 yr old would get bored with a slower horse, sorry. Thanks for your interest though.

I'm sitting here thinking so you want a slow horse but not to slow, something that has never bucked in its life. Which I mean isn't impossible in its life but most horses have gotten scared or wound up at least once in their life and bucked while someone was riding..

. . . . And I can just about guarantee that, if they do find a horse that has never, ever bucked in its entire life, that 14-year-old will find a way to make it buck before the year is out.

I mean even the best horse I've ever ridden had bucked! She bucked cause there was like 10 horseflies on her, my horse has bucked about 4 times, and how is your kid going to learn anything if they never own a challenging horse
