Haha I was gonna say, that's not very long! But idk how you did it, I woulda gave up after the first year

GUESS WHOS *probably* GETTING ANOTHER HORSE!
I went and looked at that mare today, she's wonderful. She hadn't been ridden in a year and a half till today, so we lunged which she did really well, then he rode her around for me and she was great, then I got on her and we rode out together for a while. She neck reins, moves off leg pressure, side passes, rides collected, stops off your seat, sliding stops, changes leads, does rollbacks, you can turn her with just leg pressure, etc.
she was really smooth riding. She does like to go faster and gets bored if you go to slow, but she won't speed up unless you ask. But boy it doesn't take much to ask. She's 16, has nice Two Eyed Jack papers, about 14.2 hands (guessing), and she's.. grulla? I think. Or a real muddy buckskin color. She's had one foal before (my cousin wants to breed her to her cutting horse stallion, we'll see.)
He was asking 1500 for her, I offered 1000, he countered with 1200, I countered with 1100, and now he's thinking on it.
Oh, there was one thing that happened. When we rode out in the feild we stopped and got to talking.. And she laid down!
Me and my cousin think that since she hasn't been ridden in so long she may have forgot her manners and was just trying to get me off. Or she was itchy from sweating.

Sounds awesome.
She sounds like my dream horse, but it's kind of suspicous that she's that cheap.
Make sure she's 100% sound.
Also, how old is she?

Agreed. Definitely get vet checked, and saddle her etc before buying her. My mare was $2000 and she hadn't been ridden for 2 years, doesn't have a good pedigree other then Yellow Jacket. She was sold for that much just for how athletic she is.

I went out and rode her again today. It was last minute, I caught her myself, saddled her, did about 5 minutes of ground work, and rode her again. She did just as good, if not better, than yesterday. I haven't got a vet check but I looked her over real good, picked up all her feet, etc. and nothing seems out of the ordinary.
Reasons she's so cheap:
She's 16.
She hasn't been ridden in a year and a half.
They're moving to Montana.

Got her! He brought her halter, bridle, bit, reins, and blanket with her. He seemed more concerned about making sure she was in a good home more than anything

Her registered name is Two Hot Two Hobby. They called her Sadie, but I'm gonna change that. Idk what yet.
They don't know anything about registering horses, so they didn't get transfer papers. I'll have to figure out how to get her in my name. They said to let them know if I need them to sign anything. She also has a DNA testing sticker on her papers, I'm trying to figure out how I can get the results of that so I can get some insight to what color she actually is
