Quote:
My Bible says I can't eat pork/pig of any kind. It's "unclean".
I eat it anyway, because I really don't think God cares what we eat. I think it's in the way we treat the animals that will become our food, and how we treat each other.
Truly, I think there are much more important things than what we eat.
Can't eat snakes or 'gators, or really any predator of any kind-but lots of Christian people do. Especially those that hunt. It's a crime against God and Nature to kill something you aren't going to use.
This is getting off topic but as long as it has I thought I'd add what else the Bible has to say:
Mark 7
14 Then Jesus called to the crowd to come and hear. "All of you listen," he said, "and try to understand. 15 You are not defiled by what you eat; you are defiled by what you say and do!"
17 Then Jesus went into a house to get away from the crowds, and his disciples asked him what he meant by the statement he had made. 18 "Don't you understand either?" he asked. "Can't you see that what you eat won't defile you? 19 Food doesn't come in contact with your heart, but only passes through the stomach and then comes out again." (By saying this, he showed that every kind of food is acceptable.) 20 And then he added, "It is the thought-life that defiles you. 21 For from within, out of a person's heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, eagerness for lustful pleasure, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. 23 All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you and make you unacceptable to God."
Romans 14
13Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way. 14As one who is in the Lord Jesus, I am fully convinced that no food is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. 15If your brother is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died. 16Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil. 17For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men.
Now....back on topic.....this thread is about the ritualistic killings of another person's horse.
Not trying to get off topic about the ritualistic killings of another person's horse, but I was understanding that they are killing for the consumption of humans.
"But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean." I do believe this and simply wouldn't eat a horse because I feel it is unclean to eat, that is simply my opinion. You can take 10 people and give them the same verse, and each 10 people will have their own conclusions.
So, back to the topic. I think it was very cruel to put those people through what they are going through. They loved that horse, and no one has a right to kill anyone's animals, for whatever purpose they intend.
