Horses slaughtered in FL?

Oh that breaks my heart...thats someone's pet !!! I hope they choke on the meat.....I believe in what you do will come back to you ....God help them when their caught .....
My father told me a story ....he lives in British Columbia and had a butcher shop in town ....and at his ranch .....he told me at one point he noticed his hamburger meat not selling and he came to find his competater was selling his hamburger meat by the pounds at a cheap price ......months later there was a big stink when one of this competers employees confessed to horse meat mixed into the hamburger ....It hurt all the butchers ....People were in a uproar .....I just cannot imagine ....Now a days you just don't know who to trust ...from the government health agencies ...to the local guy on the corner .....

With alot of butchers they are not honest with you.You think your getting you cows meat back but really you are getting others people meat mixed in with yours.Same with deer processors. Just so i dont get flamed by a butcher..Not everybody does it

yes my dad had a stamp he would put on a side of beef/pig for what that customer choose and when the time came to cut it up for the customer the cutomer had to wrap....

The side of beef we get from the neighbours is the same ...theres a stamp from the processor who did the deed and then our friends farm stamp and were there to pick the side and tell what kind of cuts we want and wrap and wrap....

The person will get caught! It's been happening for months down here and it's horrible! Seems to be more down south closer to Miami.

A second teen has been arrested....

I did not know that killing a registered horse had its own penalty? Regardless, it is probably a slap on the wrist!

According to the Thoroughbred Times, Luis Miguel Cordero, 18, was arrested and is facing 8 charges "related to burglary, animal cruelty, and conspiracy to commit those crimes, which occurred on Spetember 9 and September 15, but detectives have yet to connect those alleged incidents to 20 previous incidents of horse slaughter in the South Florida area."

Apperently, he admitted to slitting the horse's throat, from Lazy L Ranch, cutting off the legs and taking the meat to sell for $300.

Last weeks TB Times made a comment about an inconsistancy in the story reporting by a Miami reporter that seemed to hone in on this guy. Don't know if that was the connection or what, but the whole thing is just appalling.

No matter how much they would have gotten, doesn't make it right. If they can just go and do something like this, what else are they capable of??!!
