He is a total cuddle bug and people pleaser. Our only problem with him is wanting to Buck when going from a trot to a slower more collected lope. What a pretty boy! Still fuzzy with his winter coat, and just a little teddybear!
Pedro has done that sometimes. Luckily it's not a habit. How do you fix that???He is a total cuddle bug and people pleaser. Our only problem with him is wanting to Buck when going from a trot to a slower more collected lope.
Well our problem lies in the fact that he’s my sister’s horse and she’s a ‘green’ rider. So she’ll ride and never correct the mistake/flaw/habit, then it gets worse and worse with every ride. I’ve finally convinced her to let me ride and try to correct him before it gets worse. I also have a couple friends who train and are willing to help out.Pedro has done that sometimes. When I got my mare I was told it was impossible to bathe her with a hose because she got antsy, I was pleasantly surprised when I brought her down and she stood still while being bathed with a hose! She’s white all over and you’d think it’d be hard to keep her clean but if anything it’s hard to keep her mane and tail cleanI was all motivated to work Fiona over poles today, but the weather was so hot and the sun so bright...She had also rolled in poop, sticky poop all over, including her face and ears! I've usually gone to the barn in the evenings, groomed her, and on the typical cloudy days or evening light, she would appear clean enough to ride. But today, after grooming off the poop in the bright sunlight, she was obviously FILTHY!
So instead of riding, I gave her a bath. OH, the drama! You would think as a former racehorse getting hosed off almost every day, it would be fine to her, but oh no, she fidgeted, pawed, rolled her eyes, and threatened to pull back a couple times. And her heartbeat was really fast, so she was actually scared, and not just being a brat.
She got to graze on the grass in the sun while I dried her off, then once she was dry I went at her with a clean, soft brush - and she is still not 100% clean! Oh well, we will have plenty of hot days to come soon...and at least her white socks are now actually white instead of poop-colored.
I dread doing my gelding, he is just as filthy and HATES baths with a passion. I'll have to put on a wetsuit when I do him...
