Those are the ones that scare me. When I was 13 I had a pony that was abused by a man so of course she was naturally hesitant around men. The only farriers around were men so when the hot shot farrier arrived I told him she had been abused by a man, but if he approached her calmly and gently she usually was fine. Well he didn’t. He went in there with the “well she will learn or else” attitude and was anything, but calm or gentle to start. Long story short it ended with him hog tying her, flipping her on her ribs which cracked them and beating her with a hammer. I was the only other person there in the barn and as a 13 year old girl I was absolutely terrified. I’m not going to lie I thought about going after him with the hammer as soon as he set it down, but yeah that horse was never the same and ever since I am very anxious when a new farrier shows up.
That is one of the most terrible things I have ever heard! 😠

He actually wasn't bad. A bit puffed up maybe, but all the horses liked him, even the mustang. My horse is good to ride, but only bareback as this farrier found today that him being fat for so long messed up his shoulders. So woohoo on that. Another issue to try to find a specialist to deal with, yay. Difficult to even get a farrier, and now I need a chiropractor.

Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful that he's even alive, much less comfortable and rideable. Last year I thought he would die. It's just really aggravating when someone hurts an animal by neglect and ignorance. It really makes me angry.

How I spent my weekend pounding fence posts and pouring cement! I don’t think there is enough soap to scrub the amount of bug spray and sweat off🤣
