Hello! How has everyone's horses been doing?

Things have been insane lately for me... The manager is moving us to one of the other barns (there are 3 on property) where we are renting, and it's been a looong last few weeks. Because of the hurricane, things have been set back as well. Nobody was vacating our stalls or tack rooms right up until recently, and we are officially moving by this weekend. Only today was I actually able to work on putting up saddle and bridle racks for the first time. We also inherited a giant junk room, which isn't even empty yet. :th

On the bright side, it is a super nice barn ... The renters (for years) before us unfortunately let it go and trashed the place, so it's taking a loooot of cleanup. In the end, our tack rooms and hay/feed storage are bigger, and the barn is very nice. But it sure is a lot.

Beyond that, one of my training horses got sick, and another got adopted within an afternoon lol. (to a lady who rents/shares our new barn -- it turned out to be a perfect match for her and the horse!) I just spent way too much money on some new bath/grooming things for Ginger  and I've been mostly focusing on my trainer's mare, Jett, to finish her and get her ready for showing.

Here she is meeting a (hurricane evacuee) cow the other week. It licked her nose and Jett just about left the barn. 😂

Sounds like you’ve been busy! :) At my new barn someone is keeping goats, two miniature horses, and a miniature donkey. Fancy was very suspicious! 🤣

I have a question for you guys! Fancy went to a show over the weekend with a different person and apparently she was biting everyone. The barn owner asked me today if she bit me and I told her no and we chatted a bit. It got me thinking how do you guys correct a horse that is biting you? The barn owner and her rider corrected her and she was fine with me today. But it made me curious how other people respond to a biting or nipping horse.

It may sound weird, but my uncle was a cowboy out west taught me this trick- grab both their top and bottom lip wiggling them around for a second or two. It catches them off guard, they absolutely hate it and get the picture pretty quickly. Little Apple was a brat when he arrived and bit my arm when I was leading him. Quicker than he could blink I had both of his lips and boy was he ever startled. He tried a couple more times and he was met with me immediately grabbing his lips he stopped that crap.

How is everyone doing today? I am currently bored and couch bound due to a nice chunk of wood going through my shoe and into my left foot last night while I was putting out hay. I am angry only because I can’t go brush the horses. Picture is of my dog Gimli cuddling my left leg today and yes I am using a Spider-Man blanket my boys insisted I use one of their blankets lol
