Horses!!!!!!!!

Okay, so I looked up my horse's pedigree and her great great great grandsire is Northern Dancer.
Aaaaaaaand, she can even be traced back to War Admiral.

Why stop there? War Admiral's sire was Man o' War, considered one of the greatest race horses of all time. "Big Red's" 20 wins out of 21 starts is a feat few can match.

This is my first horse ever! She was rescued from a starvation and abusive home while pregnant.
Note I am only showing you this picture as I get jumped on severely, posting others. Would be nice to beable to show her off without being jumped on and hurt as shes my baby and I love her.

she was about 28 and had to be humanely euthanized due to cancer. She was uncomfortable for about a week, we didn't reLize how much pain she was in till she was sedated to be givin the euthanasia meds.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Horses are like most prey animals; they instinctively hide their pain to avoid drawing the attention of predators. Horses can be in a lot of pain and not show it. Your mare may have been hurting for a lot longer than you knew. The important thing is that you did the only thing you could, once you knew what was going on. Nobody should beat you up for that!

thank you, but the pictures I have of how she looked. She was in such horrible state, but fed daily. We thought she was just looking weight because of her age,but when we found her tooth in the feed trough, we knew we had to get her in, that it was more then just that. We got her in, vet said she MIGHT have cancer, was loosing her teeth, and had some kind of throat disease. The vet gave us some things to try (by this time she was really skinny, amazed she was still standing) well we did the stuff but I saw in her eyes she just wanted to let go, so I told my parents and I sold stuff that I worked so hard to get, to have her euthanized. I'm actually crying right now because I want to tell her story and post pictures of her, but I can't. People don't believe me, say I abuse her and neglected her. Stated I should have put her to sleep a long time ago, and that I should't have animals and should never be alloud to have animals. We even had someone call the cops on us 3 times because she swore we were not feeding her and that she needs to be put down (way before she got really bad) and the cops would come out and investigate. Told her that bbeyond her being skinny, she has shelter, being fed daily, and fresh hay, that there is no sign of what she's saying we suposively done. Ever since I got her 8 years ago, I've had to hide her and it hurts because she was so magnificent, beautiful, and so sweet. I just want to show the world badly, but everyone goes by pictures and not story and I get told it's my fault.

TC ... Don't get yourself in a knot about what other people think. Seriously, life is way too short. In your heart you obviously know the truth, and your mare didn't end up on a kill truck for days without food or water.

You tried. And in the end, she had a peaceful passing.

Be happy about that. I'm sure your mare appreciated all you did for her. They know. And that's all that matters.

Let it go. :)

thank you, it just hurt because I was grieving her loss and everyone was saying that. Personally I don't care what they say as I know the facts! However, she was a rescue from the spca and I posted her one time not long after I got her, showing how better she is getting, and that turned out a mistake. The place we got her from, the manager was saying stuff to me about she doesn't look the least bit better and how they were worried about her etc. I had explained that she had gained some weight, her coat is much better, and she was much perkier. Well that almost backed fired. If it wasn't for the person who worked in the horse section, stating that she saw just how good of a home she was going to, then the spca was going to come back and get her. So my fear was loosing her when I just got her, or loosing her period. I was one of those horse crazy kids. It took me 3 months to get her to where I could slowly walk up to her and catch her, but still no one else could. In other words, I just want to feel safe about posting the pictures and story, without everyone going biserk and things getting ugly.
