We have had several horses over the last 7 years. Now we are down to 1 since you never know what hay prices are going to be and I just dont have time to ride myself. I wouldnt mind getting a pony again for my boys. We had one about 4 yrs ago but my step son was afraid of him and my daughter just wasnt interested in horses. Here is Jack. He is a quarab. 1/4 arabian and 3/4 quarter horse. He is 2 yrs old and we just had him gelded this summer. I kinda wanted him for stud but he was just to aggressive and couldnt have that with 4 kids. He is getting better already. Jenn

I have 3, but I would love to post a picture of the love of my life. He owned me for 17 years and I had to put him down due to old age. He was around 28 to 30 when pts. He had gone blind in the last 6 years of his life. He was a very severe neglect case. He was in a stall for over 5 years before I bought him. This is Shadow or reg name Knight Moon Shadow. Miss you big boy.

This is my double registered QH/Paint Johnny Dudah or Nitro for his barn name. He is 18 and has been with me for almost 9 years.

Here is a slaughter bound rescue who we called our mental mess, but has come so far. She is my proudest accomplishment. Her name is Sable. She has been with me for almost 9 years also. She is around 18.

This is my newest guy. I named him Charm. He is proving not to be so charming, but he'll come around in time. He is 3 and has only been with me for about 4 month.

None here at the moment, but as soon as we can get some trees cleared, barn built and a fence up, we'll be looking for two. One for me and one for my daughter - some time in 2008 is the plan.

Hey Holly, when we bought our place I wanted horses right away but something always came up and no time for making fences. My hubby wanted horses too but just wasnt a priority. I decided I wanted them and found an add for several that were for sale. We went and looked at them and rode them. I ended up buying my mare who had a filly at her side along with her being breed back and my hubby took a cute little buckskin filly. They were to be delivered in two weeks. That is the amount of time we had to put up fences. We had just finished the fences and my hubby went to get the gates for the pasture when the came to drop off the horses. We had to pull our truck in front of where the gates were going to be to keep the horses in until my hubby got home with the gates and put them on. I pulled the truck forward, we let them out and I backed it back up to close it off. I dont think it would have been for another year or 2 if I wouldnt have just went ahead and bought them. Good luck, Jenn

Just wondering if any of you horsey people let your chickens in the horse pastures. Is there any reason why it would be bad for one or the other? We are just getting our first two horses and planning a barn with an attached coop.

Yes, I let my Chickens free range in the horse pasture. In fact many of times, the chickens are right under the horse. When the horses take a step, they stir up bugs and the chickens go crazy.

Some say that the horses may get diseases, but 4.5 years now and everyone is fine. My vet did not think it was an issue.
