Horsey People ?

A few of your horses look a little skinny - I understnad the one is a rescue and the one is rather old, but that first one - the medicine hat is a young horse that is way skinny.

Really? It didn't look to skinny to me....

Awww, everyone's horses are lovely - and look quite loved as well!

I'm down to one horse now (had to euthanize my first horse, half thoroughbred, 1/4 arab, 1/4 quarter horse mare - born crippled, given to me as a 3 year old, virtually no problems other than only sound enough for light riding, she was hurting from arthritis at 20 and compensating from her birth defect probably caused her to founder). My remaining horse is an Arab gelding that I have owned for a little over 9 of his 10 years. Bought him to train and show... he's terribly uncoordinated and seems to have no depth perception. I bought him thinking that he was just going through an awkward phase (he had run into a tree in turn out). Nine years later, not much better... the vet and I suspect that it may be Cerebellar Abiotrophy - a little understood genetic disease that only runs in a few breeds, Arabians being the best known. So, he's only green-broke, safe to ride in the arena bareback or under saddle at a walk. Anything else and he's likely to fall down (yes, he falls all the way down, but manages to not hurt himself, and he does it more than 3 times a year) or he will run into something. At least he's very personable. We're quite the pair.

I'm not sure how to add an image to this text (technology and I are not friends... and I'm too lazy to sign up for another photo site), but my Arab, Bascat, is my avatar.

Definitely not skinny. She just carries her weight differently than another horse might. Notice all the GRASS? She is fine and looks healthy and happy!

Everyone's horses are beautiful.

I have two. Here is my 21 yo gelding Rex. He is an Appendix Quarter horse with narvicular in both front feet. I've owned him for 7 years he was free. When he came off the trailer he could just about walk. He is now my main trail horse and loves it.

This is Scarlett my spoiled princess. She is a 5 yo Saddlebred. She was rescued by my SIL from a wacko lady that locked her in a stall for 2 years with a blanket on. The blanked had to be cut off of her due to her hair growing through it.

My mare has almost stomped one but not on purpose. She was still a little young (maybe three at the the time?) and wanted to play.
If I were to mix them again, I'd probably put a chicken tractor next to a stall and let the horses (especially Star... Bo couldn't care less) get used to the chickens.
