Hospital bill summary.... GEEZE LOUISE!

If you have insurance your ok. If not your out of luck. If you have cash you can negotiate the same rates as the insurance companies. After all that's what they can do it for and still make money. If you're like most people it's a financial nightmare not to have insurance and need a non elective surgery.

in todays economy not a lot of ppl have cash to be throwing around...and more and more employers are dropping the health insurance...

I am glad I dont have to worry about deciding what to do about an elective surgery...

I have no idea what it costs to have a baby on a hospital because our government funded health care covers the cost...yes we pay for it with our taxes...BUT i would rather pay the higher taxes and know that i am covered no matter what..incase my DH lloses his job...i dont have to worry about how i am making our health insurace payment that month...or worrying about co-pays..or getting approval for the procedure before its done. My oldest son needed an ingrown toe nail removed and surgery done on his nail bed...I did not have to submit forms and wait for approval...we just booked the surgery date

while my mom was in the hospital all her meds were covered by the government healthcare we did not have to submit one paper to see what was covered or not...

its just a huge sigh of relief knowing that while thousands are loosing jobs all over the world my health care is not something i need to worry about

That's it rub it in. People here are fighting it tooth and nail. You see post's all the time about people that are deathly ill and are just toughing it out. They don't have insurance.

At least they finally got all but the rich kids covered on the govt dime.
I hate reading about kids hat are sick and the parents can't afford to take them in. To me kids are more important than anything, and I mean that literally.

when my son was born nearly 8 weeks premature, he spent 12 days in NICU. Boyfriends father was all high and mighty and thought he should have paid for it, after all he paid cash for BF's birth, $300 (45 years ago

) He shut up when I told him it was over $35,000. And that didnt include my bills from 2 hospitals.

beak i am not trying to rub anything in...all i was trying to to is explain that the "socialized health care system" is not all bad...another poster brought up wait times...when really the wait times are not all that bad...

I am with you all the way children should not have to suffer because they may not be covered by insurance....no one should regardless of age

mjsdhs

I was just kidding. I think you guys have a good system. In this country anything different is Socialist. We're afraid to try anything new. Sorry, didn't mean to offend.

PHEW!!!!!...

I know things that are different are scary things for ppl to get used to...

I and my family are uninsured. Not by choice - we cannot afford health insurance premiums. I took a part time job that offered health insurance benefits - It started out affordable but the company wrote in a clause denying primary coverage to my spouse. I was paying "family" coverage premiums at $100 per week on a part time job for me and my son. It was costing me to go to work after I figured in the cost of gas for my vehicle since I only got 20-26 hours per week at $10 per hour because I had the job to pay our property taxes and health insurance premiums. Then I gave up the benefits and lost my job anyways last September and have not found a replacement job. Count me among the millions of unemployed but not because I'm not willing to work - there are no employers hiring.

I tried to take a private plan but the premiums were over $600 every three months for extremely basic coverage - basically it was catastrophic coverage with a $10,000 annual deductible. Now I have no coverage at all and it sucks. I do not go to the doctor and if I had to take my son, I would definitely skimp on some other necessity but I have had to eliminate his asthma medications except in the high pollen seasons and I just pray hard he does not have an breathing attack that requires an ER treatment.

to hear stories like that kills me....

i want to wrap my arms around everyone and bring 'em here...

healthcare should not be just for the upper class...it is for everyone

everyone as a breathing human should have access to healthcare regardless of job status or income level
