Hot composting with chicken bedding and garden waste

It's almost 70 down here in Texas. Good day for shorts and a cold beer.

lol, thats so not nice to talk about your warm weather......we have another 3 or 4 inches today and they call for in the 40's tomorrow....wow that would be nice but i'm not holding my breath.

I had worms a few years ago.....worked pretty well for a while. Now it is mostly the two of us here and the scraps are spread pretty thin with the chickens and the two composts. Well, only the compost tumbler right now.....won't be seeing the compost that is on the ground until the snow thaws.Hopefully that is very soon.

We did a similar set up with two of those bins when we lived in North Dakota. The trash service was terrible so we put all of our kitchen waste into the bins and ordered a couple pounds of red wigglers online. They did a great job of composting for us and our trash that went outside dropped considerably.

why not if done right not supose to stink they dont try to escape ect ect???

my worms did not smell but on occasion a few would make a run for it.....but most of them crawled

No smell. My friends worm bucket was nothing but that thick sludge ( worm castings ) zero smell. Mine smells like the banana I through in.

Vehve: Where's your sense of adventure. Hide one under the bed. I bet she wouldn't find it for at least a couple of weeks! As much fun as you're having with your compost, you'd double your pleasure with vermiposting.
