Hot days!!..

I also have used pans with water and the birds will wade in them to cool off. Now I have sprinklers in some of the pens but they do cover all of the pens. It wets the ground to make it cooler.

I bought 2 Lasko Wind tunnels and found out you can move them around by hanging screws in different locations around the barn. So they now have a fan blowing on their roost, which makes me feel it's helping.

I gave mine the sheet pan (filled with water) with the fan blowing right at it but they preferred standing in the wet dirt, so I did what you did and wet the ground some more.

I would think a metal pan of water in the sun in FL would get to warm to cool with wading in it?

I have a pet bird Gladys. Most evenings my husband and I sit in the garage at the work bench and chat. We have fans and Gladys likes to come in and stand in front of the fans.

I don't use the pans anymore, instead I put the sprinklers on to wet the ground/sand in their pens. That picture was taken a long time ago. I did change the water frequently in the pans.
