hot on an ant trail...

Maple, if you give the ants grits or cornmeal, dry-straight out of the package - to eat/carry off, you can have lots of entertainment watching them for about three or four days. Then they don't come back anymore. And grits/cornmeal is totally non toxic to your chickens if they find and eat the ants wherever they are going. The grits/cornmeal theoretically causes the ants to explode because they can't digest it. Don't know if it's true; do know that they disappeared out of my kitchen after three days and haven't been back.

Maple, stop squishing them and train them to do tricks! I wonder how many times you see the same ones (the not squished ones of course). Oh oh oh! Take some colored nail polish and lightly color them, then you can name them and see how many times you see the same one.

Don't use clear nail polish though, it won't work, I tried. For some reason when you use the clear nail polish the ants never come back, or you see the same one over and over and over again. It's really weird, that clear stuff does some weird things.

We had a bug guy come out and ask if he could have my husband's 'Guns' magazines, the VW microbus out back, and a year-long commitment.

So did he get the bus?

No, and he didn't get the magazines or 1 year commitment, either. He DID get shown to the gate.
