It's been really hot here in CA.
The chicks have good shade to sit in,
and their coop is pretty cool inside,
but they still sit around panting
and I feel really bad.
Is there anything I can do to cool them off?

I let the garden hose run in the corner of my run sometimes. Plus I took my horse's black rubber feed bowls and put them in the run and fill them with water too.

Any kind of melon is great to keep them hydrated. Hosing down the run or putting a sprinkler on will keep the temp. down for a while and will really help during the afternoons. We had a very hot summer last year and these things worked for me.

I spray mine with the hose. They didn't like it when I first did it but they seem to like it now. Also try to keep their water cold. They don't like hot water. I have a large shallow pan out in the chicken yard and when they get hot they stand in it to cool their feet.
