Gigi and Skittles are going to their second show tomorrow. Both had a bath, a blow dry and are in their clean kennel. Gigi mated Skittles for the first time. She was not impressed lol.

I've just taken some more pictures of Queenie's legs for you to have a look at the colour, as it has been pointed out that they are a bit dark for a Houdan. Of course she kept wanting to peck at the camera!

What GREAT toes. It may be that the color difference has to do with national difference. I can not speak to UA standards. They are not as dark as I once thought and would not keep me up fretting.

Chamerbtin... I have been ill this past week and it is fair season here. The weather is turning cold for us so there is much to do in preparation. This thread seems to have more antics than others. I enjoy them. It may be that I will try again for Houdans in the next six months and see what hilarity I have to share then.

Yes they do. I need to give a little more of a trim to mine. I think I will trim the girl (Spike) but not the boy (Zeus). Zeus has really come on in the last couple of weeks, very red face and growing his "horns". Spike is just barely pink on her face. None of the boys give her a second glance (for which I am thankful as Zeus is extreemly clumsy and even fell on his face trying to mate another girl the other day

)

I was watching their behavior and was wondering: Do pullets coming into egg production produce phermones like other female animals that come into "heat"? The boys became interested in the hens first and then showed interest in my other pullets that are now laying. Anyone know if this is a possibility?

Darn job and kids have been running me ragged. No time to "visit" lately. I did enjoy your pics you posted earlier. Do you let your birds loose in your apartment all the time or just special occasions?

Gigi and Skittles were beautiful im glad i got the babies so many people wanted those to lol good thing i got there when i did

Gigi and Skittles were beautiful im glad i got the babies so many people wanted those to lol good thing i got there when i did

Skittles had feather folicules in between her toes. Apparently this is very common, and is a DQ if you don't tweeze them prior. A very good breeder of white crested black polish explained it to me AFTER the fact. Gigi won Reserve Continental and beat out 4 polish and 10 SSHs One hamburg beat him though. Ah well. I was proud either way Next time Skittles is getting a good once over. She would have won Champion Continental if I had of known that!

Also I think at least 5 couples took down my number for Houdans come spring. If Skittles EVER lays.

Better ask someone else. Skittles is still not laying and she was born in March. Any time now..
