Seriously though, the reference photos I’m finding are lit.

Scratch that.
I found half of a chubby coyote, a dozen interesting drawings (srsly guys don’t look “chubby coyote” up) and what I thought was an excellent example which I used for a reference photo that upon further investigation turned out to be a Eurasian wolf.
Compare that to the number of “isabella German Shepherds” I found when looking it up, we find that Tennyson is a rare breed.
