yeah mine sit on eggs mostly the female but i haven't had any hatch yet because the male will put nesting material in the nest then hell deconstruct it im not sure why kind of like an artist who thinks his "work of art" isn't good enough then destroys it and starts over but because of this the egg cracked on the nest they are using plus up till recently the female had a thing for my male spice finch for whatever reason and the moment i took him out the cage the male society sang away and she took to him quickly

Lol yeah, my male finch will sometimes cover the eggs with nesting material and then try to pull it out and rebuild it! I don't give him too much nesting material anymore.

yeah im tempted to put a baby zebra finch in when they hatch to see how good parents they'd be anyway so wish me luck oh and also is the pigeon in your profile pic yours ?

The pigeon is named Nutty and I hand raised her so she will follow me around and sit on my head. She just turned 2 years old about a month ago and is probably my favorite of all my birds (although it's hard to choose favorites). I also have 16 other pigeons, Nutty was my first and pigeons can be addicting, even though most of them fly to the other side of the cage when i go in, i guess they don't want to be picked up lol.

yeah ive seen some pretty personable pigeons id love to give them a try but i dont have the space i have a ring neck dove and a mourning dove i hear pigeons are better off in outdoor lofts to fly around but i would have to keep it inside the house especially since the sharp shinned hawk moved in next door and the barred owl i hear plus i've been told pigeons make a lot of dust indoors and there poop is messier then doves i personally would love to hand rear a pigeon but as i said i couldn't keep it outside

Pigeons can be pretty dusty, I keep mine outdoors in a coop with an attached fenced in area so they can fly around a bit. I dont let them fly around loose anymore because a hawk caught a couple of them. They are very happy and when one gets out it tries super hard to get back in and is pretty easy to catch.

i'm a very visual person so the more pictures the merrier !

that's an awesome coop i live in a city area right now and i doubt id be able to build something like that nor would my dad be happy about it in the backyard if i did decide to get a pigeon where could i get a baby i want a plain ol pigeon no racers rollers or fancies a baby feral would even do

Not sure where you could get a baby, there is a pigeon guy nearby us so I got most of my pigeons from him. My third pigeon was a feral that got attacked by a hawk, he was very smart compared to most of my domestic pigeons. He was also Nutty's first mate, but disappeared last fall, I think a hawk got him as he wasn't a very fast flyer.

This is him, named Shadow, then with Nutty, she was very sad when he disappeared.



Also my doves were actually almost as dusty as most of my pigeons, so maybe it would work for you to keep one or two inside. Beware though, pigeons love to raise babies and can be super sneaky about hiding their eggs if they think you will take them.

Oh yeah and my house sparrow has started to get super annoying, shredding or biting anything that I don't want her too, then afterward she acts all sweet and innocent. So if you raise one, have a cage ready in case it is a super bratty one like mine.

speaking of zebras my first time ever breeding birds has been a success two chicks hatched earlier today
