I found that at the nursery, indoor plants are very expensive and they are of medium size. The tiny indoor plants is much cheaper, but....wait for it to grow is just too long.

My alternative shopping for these is at the Sunday market where people grow them at home and then sell them at the market.

I am re-thinking about indoor plants, might be I should get one that can grow inside the house, but in a vase of water instead of soil, this might perhaps eliminate the Fungus gnat issue.

I decided to put my peace lily plant in water pot instead now as I am trying to rid of those nasty Fungus gnat current taking resident in my living room.

I have absolutely no experience with growing plants in water. Hopefully someone else can help

We have been having prolong and excessive rain since last year, the humidity is high, that I think is also a contributing factor of over populated of Fungus gnat in my living room. I love to have some plants inside my house, so I think for now, water pots are best.

That’s probably a good idea, and quite possibly why you’ve been having so many gnat problems.

Thankfully, peace lilies love humidity, and I’m positive that yours will like growing in water (after adjusting a bit). Keeping water and humidity loving plants would be a good idea.

That’s quite literally the opposite of what I grow, so I can’t help there either

I saw on our TV Gardening Australia, people grow indoor plant in pots so well and so beautiful, but I failed badly at this.

On TV, it sounds so easy, but it is not the case with me.

Hello drought-tolerant plant lovers! (I found your thread, @fluffycrow .)

I have some issues with indoor plants.

I have in door plant - peace lily in a similar pot like this internet photo. I used potting mix for soil.

Issues:
Plants seem to not growing at all
Some sort of small flies insects born out of these pots and bite me.
The soil in these pots look miserable.

How to have a pot plants without issues like what I am having now?

Did you solve this problem? I had a big fungus gnat problem probably almost 10 years ago or so already, but I did solve it by using beneficial nematodes. I was desperate, didn't think it would work, but I didn't have the problem anymore after I got them.

I don't really remember much on how or what to do with them, but follow the instructions. Maybe you could try that. Hopefully your lily is still hanging in there.

I have a Hoya that has lived in a cup of water since I got it oh, 7 or 8 years ago . (I know that might not be best practice, but it is still alive.) I'll try to take pictures and see if you all know what variety it is and maybe how to best treat it henceforward.
