I was wondering about keeping three adopted cock birds together without hens. I asked on Pigeon Talk and only got two responses, but both said it isn't a good idea. I'm wondering if it's similar to people saying "you can't house multiple roos together or they'll fight" but there are several members here who keep all of their roos together, away from hens, and have zero problems. Any thoughts?

space, space and space.... all my birds are separated cocks and hens during autumn and winter.... so if there is enough perches/ nest boxes for every one, you won't have a problem.

It all depends on the birds. I currently have two "half brothers" living in a conure sized cage, roughly 20X21" floor space, with no issues, and my loft has several "segregation cages" that are 24X24X16 rabbit cages. One unit has 4 roller males and 1 helmet hen. We wintered them in this cage and had no fights and no issues.

Hi! I am happy to report that the boys are doing WONDERFUL! They pretty much all mind their own business. I have four nest boxes and nine perches, and they can also perch on all of the horizontal framing in the run. Two of them use boxes for sleeping, the other uses his favorite perch. In the very beginning there were a few little arguements here are there, nothing concerning. As far as how they get along with the chickens, very well! There's one little brat, my bantam Brahma, Chairy, who will run the pigeons off if she feels like they're invading her space. They have learned just to get out of her way. None of the other chickens have ever seemed the least bit concerned with having pigeons in their coop. In fact, they were all PETFRIFIED of the pigeons at first, especially when they flew! Now, the pigeons spend quite a bit of time on the ground with the gals, and I have even caught my king, Speck, preening the two silkies! Francis, the little Helmet boy, has been caught under the coop dustbathing with a bunch of the chickens! I really couldn't have asked for a better result
