HovaBator Model 1588 With thermostat

We took our 1588 out of the box, and just plugged it in.

Well, we did have to do some minor assembly, and add water.

It has been right on the money from day one. Primarily we use it as a hatcher, but have done full cycles with it.

Plug and play.

Well your one of the lucky ones then do you keep a thermometer in there??

jrhbull, could you try placing the whole bator in a large cardboard box, leaving the top of the box slightly open? I have read of others in the forum doing something like that to minimize temp fluctuations.

Mahonri, good luck with your eggs. I have a dozen wooden eggs for the bator; I load them in there when I am testing so they take up space and absorb some heat. They even have a similar weight to chicken eggs, so I figure it gives the bator a fair test and maybe they help stabilize the temp.

I got the Hova-Bator with turbo fan. The temps have been very steady in it once I got it set.

Is there anyone who has this model that has not had to fiddle with the temp and still had a good hatch?

Ive had one for about a year and just bought another so I could stagger my hatches..Mine right now is reading about 98.4 according to the accurite BUT all last year and ealier this week it read 99.5-99.9 all the time..Its still on the factory setting..Im leaning more towards the problem being my accurite than the incubator..Im leaving it alone to see if the hatch is late, then ill know for sure.I had great hatches with it last year and all on time too.If the hatch is late Ill bump up the temp..I have them in a room with a wall heater running to keep the room temp stable (at the expense of my electric bill

)

I have 14 eggs on day five in my1588 right now and I have not had to make any temperature adustments at all.(thank goodness)Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones.I have three thermometers in mine,just to be sure and at the top of the eggs It always stays about 100 degrees.

Since Saturday when we changed it to the "7" setting it has stayed steady at 99.5 to 100.1 degrees. Too hot for a forced air. Humdity is steady now at 53.
