Humidity 50%-55% then day 18 60%-65%

Mine was on setting 4 i moved it to setting 7 and now it is keeping the temp finally.

my temp has been holding at 100.5ish roughly, i got homje an dit was 99. something. But inside the house was only 63 degrees, could be why. I just noticed i had been adding water through the top with a straw to bring the humidity up and i had the water up to the screen. I just emptied the water and will see where it resets to. I cant seem to get te humidity up to the 50-55% range though. How the heck am i suppose to get it in the 60-70% when its already filled to the brim with water. This is a first time test hatch for me and i hope to hatch a few of the 9 eggs i placed inside. My bator came iwth a paper that said if the temp seemed off to retoggle switch 4, i think and see how it sets after that, then if need be to reajust it with te other buttons.

A damp sponge will help bring the humidity up. For some reason overnight my humidity tends to drop significantly, so I keep the sponge near the front edge in case I need to add water quickly without opening the bator very far. I don't think I'd be able to get from day 18 through the complete hatch without adding water unless I had it up 99% to start.

So do you resoak the sponge and replace it everyday? I just added one and a 1/2 of one my wife had laying around and the temp is at 100.2 and 50% humidity, i hope it stays there!

During the last 4 days, you shouldn't open the incubator at all if you can avoid it. Since I can't seem to get the humidity to hold overnight, I'll open it just enough to pour some warm water onto the sponge and then close it -- trying to make it as quick as possible to avoid losing the humidity that's already in there. With my next hatch, I may try putting the sponge in wet enough to be dripping. The humidity will initially skyrocket and create condensation on the window, but maybe it'll stay above 60% longer and I won't have to open it again.

Mine came set on 4 and I couldn't get it up to temp, as soon as we changed it to 7 it went right up to 99.5, interesting no?.

When we put the eggs in, it went down to 98.4 for about a half an hour or so and then went right to 99.5 and has fluctuated very little since then. Humidity started out about 50, went as high as 57... it still goes between 50 and 54 now.

On day 18, we'll add water until I get it around 71 or 72% humidity.

Owning a white foam bator sounds like a hassle....low temp, high temp, pre-set, temp going crazy, low hatch rates, loosing humidity. Why do people buy these if they give so much trouble? It seems the mftr. get a lot of money for what you get.....foam box that can't keep the temp. or humidity and you have to pay for an over priced egg turner to boot. By the time you are all done, we have over $100.00 in it for 40 eggs....so you buy another one so you can do 80 eggs. There has to be a product that offers us a better value with less hassle. Wouldn't we be better in the long run to purchase a cabinet style incubator like a Dickey Incubator? They aren't that big and your results are better....offering quality, value and less hassle.
Just my opinion....Good Luck
