I was given a LG still air. I experimented with my first hatch.I had no turner, no hygrometer and no clue. I put in 8 eggs and I got one chick. I did some more research and I bought a turner and a hygrometer - which I calibrated yesterday. I hand turned my second batch for a couple days til I added the turner.
I candled today - just now actually - it's day 9. I have 4 eggs with live chicks and one dud! I am so stoked!.
My hygrometer has stayed around 38% and my temp is at 101. Again - still air.
I did order a Hovabator 1588 since everyone raves about it. It's coming hopefully monday. I also bought the egg turner. I want to be as hands off as possible.
My second set of eggs have only been in the bator for 3 days. And I have some eggs on order, so I needed the space. I plan on using the LG as my hatcher since there is so little I need to do with the Hovabator. It seems fairly idiot proof.
