How about a Thread for Embdens?

Thank you.... so has anyone ever trained their geese to do tricks? So far I have successfully got them to understand and do 1 trick and almost a second one. I'd post a video but have no way to record it. Well unless I borrow my moms camera..hmmm

I know with my Sebastopol's yes, it can be a chore in itself!

I have to con the almost grown goslings and their guard geese into their pen first. There is always one to three that says catch me if you can!

At that point I start walking around trying to get the brats into the pen.

Here I am walking with my cane and they keep going ring around the pens. Then finally get them all in.

OK, now to the adults who know where they go but are not ready yet to go up. So it is walk up to them and then try to separate them.

Finally I get one bunch to go into their pen and the duck says I have not been able to sneak by them yet wait do not close the pen. So I leave it open and have to walk away before Duckie will go in. Finally he goes in. Then it on to the next pen.

I round up Grant, Gloria, Samantha and then Lance. They finally go in after a few walks around just to get me upset. So come the last ones to put in Ginger, Hanna and Nikki. Well Nikki will go in then I have to chase Ginger and Hanna around. Hanna takes off for the back of the pens and takes her good old time. So I chase Ginger in. Then we play ring around the pens for a bit until I am totally p$^^%& and finally I get her in after all the fowl language comes from my mouth!
I am so tired after going through all of this I want to go in and collapse into bed.

But no I have to start dinner. So that is my putting the geese up. Sometimes my husband will come out to help after I am so upset I want to strangle him for waiting so long to come out.

I know i shouldn't laugh as I know that feeling but I can't help myself lol. I couldn't imagine doing that night after night. When mine won't go in there pen I either chase them all over until they do or I call for my bf to come out and help me. Sometimes I get so mad so fast that I just walk inside and say "good I hope you get eaten by a fox you ***** **** Lil ****** *******" then I walk inside and calm down then go back out in bout a half hour or so and they usually go right in their pen where I apologize to them for saying such awful things lol.

I know it is funny so do not feel bad laughing. My husband crakes up! Sit in the house looking out the window at the antics for awhile then at the end comes out.

Poor Barb! but I think they all do that from time to time. I have to get all the ducks put away before the geese will even think about going into their own pens. They do a better job in the winter when it's just the breeders and I dont have any young ones.
