How about a Thread for Embdens?

Geese just have attitude and being a bully is one of them, I have had the same thing with my dogs and first just the gander because I didn't have the goose but my dog had enough and did attack, thank goodness it was minor and no skin was bitten. But I realized I had to do something so I use the long mop pole and it works pretty good but I do have to reinforce at times. Missy is almost worse than Sam about bullying. they tolerate the ducks and chickens as long as they don't get too close but I have never seen either on attack one just usually put their heads down to make them move. Rehoming may work but what about the other ones? they may pick up the slack once he's gone. Try the broom and swat them on the butts. I have had to do that with Sam when he was going after me.

Thanks miss Lydia I will try the broom and see. They are big bullies to everyone except me. They've pulled my ducks feathers numerous times. Its just been recent with the dog. He thinks its funny now and just sees it as a big game. Uncle Waldo is very much a bully but when he thinks I'm not looking he's fine. Like I have the ducklings pen where I can see it out the window and uncle waldo will try to attack them through the fence until he thinks I'm no longer looking or something because after awhile Amelia and Boris will move on but uncle Waldo doesn't leave the pens side. He will sleep next to it and will walk around it where they walk and eat the grass next to it. Which is cute but then I will let them out and he turns into killer gander. The geese are very protective of me so it makes me wonder if that's what causes it. He is very in your face now and I don't like that. But I will try the broom and see what happens.

I'm not sure what's going on with him and the ducklings, But I wouldn't let the ducklings out with the geese unless your right there. Once mating season starts you may want to have a separate pen for the geese because they really get hateful then. may even get that way with you so be prepared.

I think personally that my embdens and my chinese cross embdens are the most terrioral against other ganders and geese while my africans just act tough so others are more wimpy against them no idea what other geese are aggressive with eachother ?!?! Pomeranian

I have no clue either. They are all something else. Yes I am prepared for all that fun stuff

I never do, even then letting the ducklings run free while the geese are around is not always a good idea. They are such meanies. Unless it's just me and them and then the little buggers are happy as can be. They are hating that I don't spend as much time with them now that it has gotten colder. Yes come next year they will have their own pens and be penned at all times during the day unless I bring them out and hang out with them. Especially since not a lot of people listen to the things I tel them to do and I don't want anyone to end up hurt.

I did not know about this group~ I think mine is also an Embden. She is a rescue from a local park where she was being abused. She was eating all kinds of lettuce, apples and all until about a week ago and now she is only eating her wildfowl pellets and corn that I have a little grit mixed in with.....Is this normal? Could she be depressed because she doesn't have a mate?

She looks like my Sam who is Embden, and yes she may be lonely being they are flock animals.

Hmmm.....so this loneliness could be causing her to stop eating salad greens and apples? She eats the dry stuff and is drinking water fine~

Did the rescuing come from a rescue place? If so did they sex the goose? If so and it is a female you could get her a Embden gander so she is not lonely. This goose is lovely.

Not sure on why she isn't eating the salad greens or apples maybe time of year and tastes have changed. But if she is eating and drinking good then I doubt she is depressed just probably lonely for companionship. My geese won't eat apples but they do like cabbage romaine collards etc.
