Thank you for your reply. I didn't put much information in here because the last forum I posted an extensive question about the gosling and didn't get a reply.

A little background. She was taken from her parents and is about 4 weeks old. It seems to me that she has never seen a human in her life. Last night I had her in the house and wrapped in a towel and she did sleep a little and she ate some feed out of my hand. Today, I tried to place her in the coop with my 2 mallards, 1 indian runner, and 3 welsh harlequins- that didn't go over well. She sat in the corner all day after the pecking order was established, didn't eat, didn't drink, didn't even move. I went and go her out and when i picked her up she threw up water! So this evening I moved her to an above ground coop with three 8 week old cochins and she seemed much more comfortable, although she was like a giant compared to the cochins. I stood about 10 feet away for 20 minutes to make sure she didn't trample them, I also gave them some fresh clippings. but if I got closer, she would freak out, just like she has since I got her yesterday.

I'm really starting to get concerned. Any suggestions are very needed.

So you have no other geese? that would really be nice if you did. As far as her getting use to humans it can happen it is just going to take alot of time and patience. To get her to sleep in a towel with you holding her and eating a bit of feed out of your hand is really something to be proud of. Just take it slow with her. I will encourage you to think about getting her a goose buddy, they really do much better if they have one of their own kind to grow up with. And if you can make her a safe enclousure on the ground so she can eat some grass she really needs to graze.

Just curious, why was she taken from her parents at this age? I´m surprised someone let her go. The tiniest goslings do best when taken away.
To be honest, she´d be better off going back to the parenets, and you raising 2 from day-olds....
Geese imprint, as you know, so you´ll have a battle to get her to settle really well if she´s not used to people. However, it´s not impossible to get her to be a bit calmer, even more chance if you get her a goose friend.
I´d be inclined to let her go back, and get some tinies instead
What´s 'the above ground'? Do you live in a basement? What arrangement does your friend have for keeping geese? Do they have more space? Could you keep her at their place? ...........

She was raised by a small local breeder, which i told her that i wanted the gosling when she was 1 week old- i was kind of surprised and irritated that she didnt take her from her parents then, when i had purchased her- we couldnt meet up until last weekend. I've contacted the breeder and let her know of how scared the gosling is.

The above ground is my brooder box and i dont hope to keep her in there, i was just glad to see that she was calmer. I dont want to put her in a pen by herself because i want her to have a friend, so until i can figure something else out, she is going to have to be in there. Thanks for the reply.

When I got my goose she was very skiddish also and still is to some extent, she will eat out of my hand but just about takes my fingers off. Missy will never trust me like the goose and ducks that have been hatched and raised here or brought home when just days old. Especially when they have bonded to others already. How is she doing today?
She may come around but it would be so much better if she had a goose to relate to, When my goose lost her only gosling [died in the shell trying to hatch] I couldn't believe I was able to find a gosling so close to us and only 2 days old, when we got to the farm she had 2 goslings I knew it was much better to get both of them so they would have each other since I wouldn't be able to put the one out with my adults till she was 3 weeks old. So we came home with both. If your gosling isn't eating and is continually stressed out she very well may not make it, only you can make the decision on what would be best for her.

She may never stop running from you in certain circumstances. Like if I have to catch my goose, Missy will run from me, most of the time she'll stay fairly close and since we have given her the gosling she has even gotten closer because of them and they are comfortable around me. I don't think you'll ever make her a lap goose but I doubt that's what you want anyway just having them relaxed around us if what most of us want. Spending time with her not even looking at her will help alot. just being there, and don't forget the Romaine. lol oh and I found out quite by accident my 2 love dried meal worms. Their adoptive mama loves them but not my gander so when I brought them out to give to the flock man those 2 gosling went bananas over them. Please keep us updated on her progress. Please post some pics when you get time too. We'd love to see her.

Here she is last night after I coaxed the devil out of her...hissing, squeeling, etc However any slight movements would bring the devil right back.
