How about a Thread for Embdens?

Thank you Mrs Lydia I do have a brood house ready for when they hatch that mom and babies will be put in. I'm so exited they will be my first natural hatching of goslings here on the farm can't wait. Is there anything that I should know r do to possibly have a better hatch percentage ? Parents r both 3 years of age.
@JLfarm Well one thing you should let papa goose be in there too. both gander and goose are wonderful parents and he will be very upset if he doesn't get to be part of it all. lol

Sounds like you have it worked out just keep them from any water sources until fully feathered. that way they won't chill. That is one big way of losingg gosling in winter getting wet and chilling. other than their drinking water of course.
I am very excited for you and looking forward to hearing all about it. When is hatch day?

Hatch day is around New Year's Day

Not long then. Be sure to keep us updated. First time moms and dads need extra watching just to make sure they are keeping goslings warm and being good parents. All the flock will be very protective of the new goslings It's a joy to watch.

Thanks I will keep close watch on them. It's very exciting.
@JLfarm Yes it is and you maybe the first hatch for 2016.

So I candled some of moms eggs tonight and all of the ones that I checked all had spiders in them

so happy. Hope the majority of them hatch.
Yay!! I hope so too. How your weather? if she doesn't have too many she should be able to keep the eggs toasty warm..

It's about 41 outside right now but it's been fairly warm here in south central Louisiana
Not bad,we have 26 this morning with wind chills of 11. But we have been having a nice extended fall this year no wonder all our birds are confused.lol
