So my newest hen, a Pekin called miss turbo has found out what bumblefoot is all about! Labor Day weekend I found it and started doing soaks. After the 1st soak I was trying to assess where entry point was and next thing you know...BAM! This thing busted wide open and bled like no other. I figured well heck, it’s already bleeding I might as well try and find the plug...nope! I got it to stop bleeding and put her up for the night. Night two soak only and did not mess with it! 3rd night I would see what kind of damage I did. Boy was that a mistake! It bled worse then the night before! The next day I took her to the vets!

After X-ray to make sure I didn’t break any toes, no! Thank gosh! I was given meds (to which I can’t remember the names off hand) and Manuka Honey to apply nightly then wrap. 3 week check up and the vet said that I should just keep doing the soaks and the manuka honey treatments. This Saturday will be week 5 of soaks and honey. And I’m just not sure what to think of the progress....it doesn’t seem to be going down. Here are some pictures ( I applied the honey then took a picture so it’s super glossy) any thoughts or suggestions on how to deal with would be great! I have been using the honey on Ted with great results!

Wait
you're supposed to take the black stuff out of the foot?
I never knew that, my three hens are literally living with bumblefoot, I never knew this was an actual problem
Yes if.. you can remove the black with causing bleeding. I have already removed some on mine, but it will heal black again.

huh
Whenever I decided to take that off I just get my nail under it and rip it off in one piece
Normally it just bleeds around the edges but I dont hold the hen long enough to worry if it bleeds more

*shrugs*
Whats so bad about it if you dont touch it?

No you want to do this a slow pace because you don't want to cause more harm then good. Can you post some pictures of your hens feet? Visuals are always good here:D
