Chirping
I hate to ask this but - I am going to get my first chicks in two months and want to be as prepared as possible. I see lots of posts that mention when it would be best to cull a chick or adult chicken but I don't know how to get the details of how to perform this properly and humanely. I expect that it is easier to cull a chick since they are so small but I don't want to botch the job and cause unnecessary trauma. Also, adult chickens can be, I expect, a challenge. I am not a country girl so this is all very new to me. Is there a book or somewhere I can go to get detailed instructions?
The when is probably situational. It is hard for me to understand when an injury is treatable and when it isn't. I guess when I come across situations, I will do research to figure out what is and what isn't treatable.
