Do Spalding's do well in Missouri ?

It depends on how far north you are and how high % the Spaulding is. The ones pictured above were in an unheated barn last winter, the Pic of the high Pieds were in a barn kept at 40* all winter.

Do people have them for the eggs like chickens? I just happened to come upon this post, never thinking about Peafowl before, but am now very interested in why people keep them. They are obviously very BEAUTIFUL, but is there a homesteading purpose? Just wondering.

I don't think they lay enough eggs for egg laying purposes but I was wondering if they could protect chickens from predators?

No not a good source of eggs, and no they will not protect your chickens.
My Peafowl are like pets, they have big personalities. They eat snakes and spiders, along with anything else they can catch.

Maybe if you want to serve Roast Peafowl at a feast? Not likely to be an efficient producer of meat, but something to brag about on rare occasions.
