How are EE and Barred Rocks?

Thank you very much for offering your opinions! I have 2 BR chicks and 2 EE chicks. I got the BR because they seem to be wonderful layers. I got the EE chicks, purely because of seeming temperment (The two I have are SO SWEET.) and the potential colored eggs. I am not too urgent that the EE lay a good production, so I am glad to hear everybody's experience with them has been good. I think I may have one BR roo in the group, which isn't a bad thing. I have max room for 3 hens, so I will have to rehome one of the BR anyway. I got 4 in case one or two died the first week or so, but all four are THRIVING! lol

HI,
We have 2- EE"S and 3- Barred Rox.
Both are sweet birds that lay thru the winter, We usually get 10-12 green eggs a week
Ours were hatched 05.01.09. had first eggs about 9.11.09
We just hatched(ST.Patricks Day) 2-green eggs fathered by our only Barred Rox rooster they are the cutest things
They sit on my chest(on a towel) at night and watch the news
These will be my sons 4H project birds
We have hatched 3-on Valentines Day also, These were from 2 Barred Rox eggs and 1-RIR Egg
They look like big black and white vultures.
That just started to go outside about 6-7 hrs in the baby chix run during nice 65-75 degree days
I work graveyard 5 nites a week M-F the birds are my stress buster,I enjoy hand feeding every morning for about 30 minutes. My favorites are really the Buff Orpingtons what great dependable girls. I wish I had another dozen of them.....(not)
Have a great day..should be about 70 degrees and sunny here in southwest Colorado on the banks of the Arkansas river @ the Royal Gorge
