How are they still alive?!?

Is it Ameraucanas or a different breed that carry a lethal gene? @azygous?

It is the Araucanas that have the lethal gene but they are (I think?) related aren't they so maybe sometimes that gene can come through

I think they are so distantly related they don’t have the lethal double tuft gene. Ameraucanas have beards and muffs not tufts. And I think the chicks that receive the lethal dose die in shell or shortly after. In my case, the eggs just don’t develop.

Such complicated birds! Reading it made my head spin. Lol Araucanas are such a cool breed. Definitely not for the faint of heart.

After one chick pipped below the air cell and delayed it’s hatch, both eggs are now hatched and healthy! They hatched a day late but otherwise unscathed!
