How Baby Chicks Are Made....

These are commercial hatcheries. I think thats why people come and pay a bit more for my chicks because they dont get treated this way and they know they where loved and cared for. I am not trying to bash these hatheries but this is what you get. Now the reason why most people buy from hatcheries is because they have people sex the birds where mine are unsexed. Watch some vids on how chickens are processed and that will change your mind on supermarket chickens.

I have family members who have chicken farms. They get 30,000 to 40,000 chicks every seven weeks. After six weeks they are fully grown and to the butcher they go, then the stores. SIX weeks is all they live. They feed them hormones to grow. Then we eat them.

Thank you to who ever posted that link to begin with... wow.. didn't know chicks were thrown around like that!!!

The only good thing i can say is that the video made it look real simple to sex by wing feather/quill method.

We just had a very successful hatch..kind of.. we hatched out 4 isa browns (red sex link) 1 Bantam Araucana (so far) and 1 gorgeous Ameraucana from our blue roo and black hen.

Looks like our Araucana baby is going to be white.. not sure whether tufted or non tufted yet!
Our Ameraucana baby (large fowl) looks like either a blue or black.. grin.. too early to tell!

have 3 more eggs in bator.. all in at same time, but different hatch days!

Wish me luck..
