How bad does it smell?

Quote:
I was a bit concerned about this issue, my chicks are all in a spare bathroom (ceramic tile flooring). The good thing is that there is a vent fan, but haven't needed it so far. They're on Aspen wood chips and contained in about 1/2 the floor space. My dogs and cats can smell them, but I don't allow them even to look at them, so no worries there.

The sort version of this is there's no smell at all for these one week old chicks.

I have 14 in a 5' long cardboard box with pine shavings and can't stand the dust. It's everywhere in the dining room.
I have a new batch of babies on sand and I love it. The bottom of the cardboard box lined with a big 30 gal trash bag.
These babies will be going in the 5' box with sand next week. The only problem is it comes wet/damp and takes a few days to dry out in the sun. I speed it up under an extra heat lamp.

You can get them at the feed store, they're commonly used in horse stalls. The DE is fine with chicks as long as it's food grade and not pool grade.

My chicks are in my tiny bathroom closed up. There are four of them and I haven't smelled a thing. I have had them on pine now for about a week, thinking it should be changed here soon, but no smell.
