How bad is the H1N1?

I read that too! Here is the actual paragraph out of that.....

**** Pneumococcal vaccination does not protect against pneumonia caused by microbes other than pneumococcus bacteria, nor does it protect against pneumococcal bacteria strains not included in the vaccine. It is reassuring do note that of the 80 different serotypes, the vast majority of infections are caused by the 23 serotypes contained in the vaccine. ****

Plus they say it's for people over 65 and children under 2. Mmmm.......sounds kinda silly to me!

90% of pneumococcal disease is caused by those 23 serotypes. Besides pneumonia it also can cause meningitis.

The ages are those people that are most at risk for the disease.

Wow from the descriptions of H1N1. I may have already had it.. In 2007.. Was it around then.. I got sick.. I dont have insurance so I dont go to the doc. But this one didnt go away and then it sat in my lungs for about 2 months. I had to go to the emergency room 3 times.. They never did a test on it.. So have no idea exactly what it was.. We have bad health care here. You almost have to die from some thing before they know what it is. Any way. Now my lungs cant breath as deeply as they used to..

You most likely had one of the other Type A influenzas going around at the time. They can be pretty vicious too.

H1N1 has been running rampant in KY. I had it a few weeks ago. Wasnt too bad, but the pnuemonia that set in afterwards has not been fun. There have been a few cases of H1N1 locally where people with no other medical problems have dropped dead from H1N1. Thats the scary part.

Thank you, I just got one thread closed down, hoping for a two ' fer!
