How big are Quail?

Just wondering how big Quail are (Coturnix)??

I saw some in a pet shop today, full feathers, a little bigger than finches (same cage as finches). They'd be buttons right? They seemed pretty small. Or would they have had some space for growing?

Also, they were $9 each... seems a bit of a rip off...

Does anyone have pictures of Coturnix with something for comparison (your hand doesnt count btw)

Sorry I don't have pics, but coturnix,coturnix quail range between 6 to 10+ oz. depending on strain.
You were probably seeing button quail, based on your description.
$9 each for coturnix,coturnix is a rip off, but button quail breeders can name their own price, based on color and other things because they are basically pets.
Actually, I think $9 each is pretty standard, maybe even low for the pet birds....Which no one on this board will ever talk me into raising with their pretty pictures....No, no!

If they where in a pet store they are buttons I have never seen them sell anything other then buttons
