How big is this dog gonna get?

PLEASE tell me you are mistaken about the 200 lbs! I have a Great Dane (Thor) that is about 1 1/2 years old and weighs 122. I can't imagine him getting any bigger! I took him to the vet the other day and the said they only worked on small animals...........I'm thinking of calling the Equine vet for his next visit.

Would Zeus really protect you? Thor might drownd someone with his slobber but he is not agressive at all. He won't even bark at strangers!

Absolutely he would defend me! He is eight almost nine years old. He takes me by the arm and leads me to the fridge or to the truck if he wants to go for a ride. He is a happy dog and friendly--but takes a little while to warm up to strangers. He can greet people outside fine--but will NOT allow a stranger into the house. I have to lock him in my bedroom! After the people come into the house, he is fine--it is just getting them through the door! I ADORE him, but he is getting old for a Dane and sleeps most of the day. I bought him an electric bed this weekend. I thought it would help his arthritic aging bones!

He has so many mattresses we call him the "Princess and the Pea Dog". Zeus was the middle sized dog in his litter. He does weigh about 200 pounds. My sister has another from the same breeder that is almost two and he still looks lanky and skinny. They put on weight and fill out as they mature. Zeus is a bit fat and could be on a diet--but I'm not going to be the one to tell him! Glad to meet another Dane owner!

What a little cutie!...

what a cutie, with the large breed dogs keep an eye on those hips and the growth plates in the legs. he should turn out to be the biggest sweetest dog ever.

You are kidding right? Bull Mastiff get to be like 250 on the big side and GP's are the size of a large golden retriever. You are looking at at least 175 lb dog.

I'd guess around 100lbs. The great pyrs (females) we had were around 110lbs. Bull Mastiffs really aren't that big, they are solid though so weigh more then other dogs there size, I'm guessing 100-120lbs.

(and since everyone else has, I guess I should admit to being a dane owner (2))

LOL that combo is going to be huge. My vet as two Bull Mastiffs that weigh around 170 lbs.

As to the Danes...yes they can be quite protective and aggressively so. A doctor friend of mine has two of them and there is no doubt that they will bite if their family members were threatened. But they are both sweeties to other animals, friends and family.

Here is a simple formula that is pretty dead on for weight at maturity in dogs.
When they are 4 months old, quadruple what they weigh.
I have a 6 month old GS mix we found, at 4 months he weighed 30 lbs
