How Big Of A Waterer ?

How big of a waterer do i need for 20 grown red star hens ? 5 gallon or 8 gallon ? I plan on dumping it out every day and refilling it with new water so it only has to last for 24 hours.

Get the larger - you may have every intention of minding it daily, but life happens and if something were to happen that kept you from being able to get to it for a day or two the larger capacity is going to be coming quite in handy. There is nothing to lose by having more water available than they need - but everything to lose by not having enough.

For 20? i'd do 8 for sure, i have a 5 out on the one area for 10 chickens and they even have more water in their coops, i am water, water everywhere lol and some of those birds free range so they get more water from the ducks waterers and their pools lol

You simply cannot have too much water!
