I find my pygmy fainters use up as much space as I'll give them.
Last winter they shared a 10 x 24 pen, slept next to each other and there wasn't a lot of butting going on. This winter they are in a new 14 x 30 shed and they have each claimed a different half of the building. They don't sleep together and there is more butting going on than ever before.
I pasture them for 4-6 hours each day on 1/2 acre when the weather is good. They will search out ther favorite food and devour that before moving onto their next favorite and so on.
My pussywillows were the favorite in the Fall followed by whatever leftovers they could find in my vegetable garden and they barely touched a lot of the normal grassy stuff.
