Today my only hen, a white leghorn, was taking longer than usual in her nestbox to lay her egg. So I stuck around and witnessed how she layed it, waiting for her to walk out and sing her song. But she stayed in the box, not wanting to interrupt her at first, I walked off with intentions of returning later.
30 minutes later I come back and she still sitting in the nest box. Now I'm thinking she's gone broody, which confuses me because she's 10 months old and a leghorn. So I pick her up, remove the warm egg, and taker her to run so she can eat, drink, etc. At this point she's mad at me, so I go inside. about two hours later, my mom says she heard her singing and checked the nestbox and found another egg. How is this possible?
Now I'm pretty sure that she wasn't going broody but only laying her eggs, and I interrupted her. Both eggs look normal in every way. She's been laying everyday for the past four days. Can anyone explain?
