how can i get big eggs

You need to get breeds that lay larger eggs - Leghorns, Sex-links, RIR, Barred Rock, Delawares. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think a "large" egg is defined as weighing over 2.0 ounces.

I have 6 EEs all the same age and some lay really nice-sized eggs and some lay itty bitty fart eggs. So they're really inconsistant - at least mine are.

my 24 week old chicks just started laying last week. Today I got an egg from one of my barred rocks that was as big as my HAND!!
It was bigger than any egg I've ever seen in a store!!!
My phoenix laid first and lays daily - her eggs are the same as small eggs in the store.

It's in the genetics. You'll have to find someone with chickens that consistently lay larger eggs through their lives or just hatch some of your friend's eggs and add them to your flock. You will still have lots of variation as they age and just randomly along with things like giant double yolkers and tiny wind eggs. Store bought eggs are candled and sorted according to size from many many chickens that have been bred for many many generations to lay certain size and color of eggs. They also have been bred to live in small cages or pens with little outside stimuli so those chickens often don't make the best backyard flock since they tend to be flighty and easily stressed if put in a large and changing environment.

I just hatched some huge penedesenca x welsummer x maran mix eggs. Some of them double the size of the brown store bought eggs I had in the fridge. We'll see what the chicks lay next summer.

It's very easy. However it will involve a bit of investment. What you do is get big hens and a big rooster. Then you put 4 BIG hens with 1 BIG rooster. You should try this once then see if it works. The eggs with be bigger due to it's parents size. Just like humans, if our parents are tall we will be tall.
