How Can I get my Silkies White!

Well, looks like you tried the good stuff. Now try white felt tip pen.

Quic Silver is a horse whitening shampoo. You can find it in TSC.

If the feed doesn't contain (much if any) corn or marigold, it's most likely sun bleaching. If this is the case, you'll have to wait until she molts out.

When we were building our Silkie coop, I begged my dad to put in 2 windows so they can see the light of day. I only have one white Silkie and she never just stands there, but somehow the sun just *finds* her. Her poor feathers...I feel your pain.

Sometimes I use the stuff to get the tear stains off from around a dog's eyes. I forget what you call it. I use the dog shampoo for white dogs, then that stuff and rinse real well. It has worked wonders for me.

I just had the same issue with my white pullet, around the butt area is stained brown. I tried the special tear shampoo for dogs eyes and horse shampoo.
It gets the dirt off but the stains remained.
I'm going to try baking soda mixed with peroxide on her butt and foot feathers to see if I get better results.
I use that to get rid of the stains on my hands, nails and feet from gardening.

My white silkie hen was named Snowflake, but I think I'll have to change it to "Pig-pen". She wallows in dirt regularly and has poo stained feathers around her vent. I tried everything to get them lighter. No luck. So I trimmed them off and will wait for new ones to come in. She looks a little odd, but at least she doesn't look like she sat in coffee now. I told her it was a new "punk" hair cut....very chic! HA!

Thanks for the tip on the shampoo and technique for washing the head. How many people is that maneuver supposed to take, by the way? HA!
