How can I push my hen over the edge?

they'reHISchickens :

I'd give her a nest of golf balls/fake eggs and see if that makes her stay put. THEN you can chance the real eggs.

I'd this. Let her settle down on some fakes for a day or two, get a good hard "set" going, then slip the real deal under her.

Well she "settled" yesterday and is now entirely delighted with her 9 brahma eggs. Flat as a pancake, but happy. She hasn't come off the nest once since I gave them to her yesterday.

If she decides to jump ship, no biggie. I have 8+ dozen eggs in the frig. right now, so it's not like we're hurting for those 9.

Ranchy, I love ya and I'd love to stick around and aggravate ya, but storms in the area and Keith says it's time to shut down the puters. Do me a favor and stick around to aggravate Impy for me later.

I don't have any suggestions for ya, Gritty. I actually came here because I was surprised to see you ... errr.... grousing.... about a broody situation.

But, while I'm here, lemme share that I've got a broody SEBRIGHT hen.

That one "kitty litterbox" nest box has already had Shirley Welsummer brood and hatch chicks in it. I'm hoping Alice is as successful. Even though some of the eggs underneath her are NOT bantam eggs.

I'm not grousing now that this SF "Ray" has made up her mind to stay put on the eggs. I was just getting aggravated with her on again, off again broodiness. Now she's settled and all is well in my world again.

Awwww, another broody for Gritty

Little Minge (her dad is a Bantam RIR and her mom was a Rosecomb) she is so tiny, she can only handle 2 LF eggs

She picked her very own spot

Hey, hey, hey! I let any broody that wants to be a mommy set on eggs! My first broody is the one that spurred me to buy an incubator, just in case she gave up... And then I thought I'd try it myself. That's when I got hooked...

But I refuse to "break" a broody.
