How can I tell if she's sick?

Did you get any of the Nutridrench in her? I am sorry this is going on, I know it is heartbreaking. Sometimes they just don't make it and there may have been no fixing it. She just may not be right on the inside.

Hi. The 1 ml syringe is not a good thing. You need to buy a bigger syringe, Like 5-10 ml and a feeding tube. What I did about that was I took the smallest tubing I could find-even aquarium tubing. Stick it on the end and get Kaytee hand feeding food. Draw it up in a syringe (very liquid) and measure the tube from the beak to the crop and cut it so that it goes deep enough. You can hold the chick and her beak open with one hand and gently pass the tube down with the other. Then feed her up to 5 ml very slowly. Do 3-4 times a day.

If you're worried about the diameter of a tube, I've seen a chick swallow a big bug with no problem. I pass it very easily and if you kind of slide it down the right side of her throat you'll miss the airway. With that one ml syringe, you'll have risk of aspiration.

So sorry to hear that. Losing a pet, at such a young age, after all you have done to bring her to health....you did what you could. Things just happen, and there is nothing you can do to change it. I'm sure that whatever to did, the chick knew you were doing your best. They may not be Mensa candidates, but they do appreciate the care and love you express for them.

Darn, you gave it a good effort. Don't 2nd guess yourself, as I said, sometimes they are just not made to live or they just can't overcome a sickness. You tried and that is awesome.

I'm sorry. We had a little guy like this when we brought home our feed store chicks a few weeks ago. Wilbur didn't seem well, and nothing we did helped. We lost him the first night. It's true that sometimes it just happens, though I know that doesn't make it hurt less.
