How can you find out about chicken laws in a community?

Guess what my neighbor has a problem with my chickens and with apparently everything else here. I want to make sure there are no laws agianst having them. I don't think there are since some other people down the road have them too, but i want to make sure since she threatened to call the law if they ever came on her property. ( neighbors free range)

Most cities have their ordinances and zoning code online, so try to find your city's website, then look for zoning code and/or ordinances. Could also be listed under city code.

If htere is not a map that shows which zoning district is where, then call and ask. Read EVERYTHING in the upfront section before it starts breaking out the different zones, and then everything in your zone.

Keep your chickens on your own property, the same as if you have a dog. Make sure the neighbors know that you will do everything you can to ensure that they stay off her property, but also politely ask her to let you know first if they are causing problems with her yard in any way.

My chickens are penned and I have tried to get along, and i reassured her that if they did get loose I wold try to fix or repair anything they damaged or if necessary pay for it. What brought it up is that one got loose and we wnt to her house to try to find it.
