I have a bird with fowl pox, how can I get rid of it? It's on one of my babies

It's a virus, usually transmitted by mosquitos. There is no treatment for it. Most cases usually clear up in about 2 to 4 weeks. It is highly contagious within a flock, but once a bird contracts it, they won't ever get it again.

Hi @Victoria E. Catalina Here's some reading for you. http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2015/07/fowl-pox-prevention-treatment.html

Dry Form of Fowl Pox will generally resolve itself in several weeks - you can apply some Iodine to the scabs to help dry them up a little. There is no real treatment, except supportive care. If you see any pox lesions inside the beak or your bird develops respiratory symptoms (facial swelling, discharge from the eyes, coughing, etc.) then you may need further treatment.

Above this thread there is a survey asking which method of treatment do you use to get rid of fowl pox. It is misleading in my opinion. Isolation would not solve the problem as the virus is spread by contact and mosquitoes. There is no medication I know of that will get rid of fowl pox.... but these are the only two options offered in the survey. Fowl pox ran thru my flock, from mosquitoes. I live in Florida, I have wild turkeys all over my property, they get fowl pox and from what I have heard it is much harder on them. Since I had no outside chickens join my flock I feel they may have gotten it from the turkeys. My flock looked pretty bad. Some had pox on their eyes, I felt so bad for them but they all came thru it and were normal again. They had dry pox. The survey also did not address dry pox versus wet pox. The latter being much worse. The only thing good about the whole ordeal was I knew those birds would never get it again. I think the survey will confuse more than it will educate since you can't get rid of fowl pox except to ride it out, it is difficult to isolate from mosquitoes and treatment of any kind depends on the dry/wet pox situation.
