How come my chicken won't get off the nest?! It's been a week!

if you don't want to risk getting a rooster, you can try getting day old pullets, but there's always a small chance there could be a roo in the mix that they missed. or, you could just end up getting an awesome roo to add to your flock that you got to raise from egg-hood.

Raising your own roo is better I think because you won't have to earn it's trust. He's grown up with you and already knows the routine and his surroundings.

do you have a rooser? I didnt see this question answered yet. if so, you can leave some eggs under her. If not, no point in wasting them so collect them daily. Just let her do her thing and she'll eventually give up if theres nothing happening.

Then just keep taking the eggs daily so you don't waste them. They sell faux eggs for chickens but i've ready you can use golf balls under them as well.

I'm going to try leaving 4 golf balls under her and I figure when she realizes that they won't hatch she'll stop being broody. I don't know if that makes any sense or not but I'm going to try it.

Trust me, that won't work. Either give her some fertile eggs, or break her. To do this, put her in a small cage with no bedding for a few days with just food and water. You can also dunk her fanny in ice water a few times a day. Good luck
