how come two chickens of the same breed can look so different?

it crossbreeding or inbreeding, ive always wondered, but loved my birds so much i didnt feel the need to ask-i know there pet qaulity-not show qaulity but i still dont understand what makes them look so...yeah(bald compared to the standerd).

It all comes down to selective breeding. Breeders only keep birds with the best characteristics, and constantly cull out poor examples to keep making their birds look better and better. Hatcheries are interested in quantity not quality.

As the other poster said-it's all about selective breeding. If you want the super fluffed out mega topnot silkies you have to look for a breeder who goes for thet
